The main purpose of this memo is to shed light to the issues of the shuttle buses of City College. The buses are rather late or too full.

Summary

City College is on a hilltop. It is quite difficult to walk up that hill every day to go to campus. So Facilities in City College implemented a shuttle bus system that delivers students from the train station to campus. The dilemma that is happening is that the waiting time for the bus is very lengthy. As more time goes by, more students wait for the bus making the line very long. There is surely room for improvement.

Discussion

Us, as students, understand that being able to have a shuttle bus is a privilege and not a right. However, when the buses get full, most students walk to campus. The walk is almost half a mile, so it is easy to get tired trying to get to class. The walk make students lose their energy that will make them less efficient towards their academic performance. The walk will make students late for class and this will negatively impact their grades.

Speaking of class, many students are in a rush to get to class because they may be running late. However, the buses don’t  help this dilemma because as mentioned, they don’t come on time or they are already full. That 15 minute walk is a 5 minute drive, and is can make the difference of being late or on time.

Finally, these crammed buses aren’t  safe for the students or even the operator. If an accident were to occur, many lives would be in danger, the students that are standing and being pushed up against each other, can sustain the most injuries. City College would be responsible for the injuries and trauma.

Recommendation

Ideas that I would personally suggest that can improve the shuttle bus system is to implement more buses to the route, more buses would lead to shorter waiting time. Also, there should be more buses, this would mean there would be less of a rush to drop of the students. Finally, more pick up zones can be implemented to reduce the amount of student to board the bus.
